With regards to RTRP testing, the IRS has the exam ready for implementation, but is finalizing regulations for release.
The IRS has informed that the first 2400 test takers will not immediately receive their test scores from Prometric, Inc, the designated testing provider for IRS RTRP testing. Prometric will review these initial scores in order to accurately calibrate the test questions for future RTRP candidates.
As mentioned earlier, the IRS has announced a hold until further notice on background checks, which includes the fingerprinting process. For more information on this, take a look at the following link: http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=249453,00.html
As a reminder, you can renew your PTIN online: www.irs.gov/ptin
If you are having any technical issues with registering for or renewing a PTIN, the IRS recommends taking a look at the Troubleshooting page for helpful tips: http://www.irs.gov/taxpros/article/0,,id=249446,00.html
With regards to CPE requirements, the IRS will be releasing a revenue procedure any day that will detail CPE requirements for both RTRP candidates and CPE providers.
CPE provider registration will be an online process that will generate an unique provider number. Once registered, CPE providers will be listed on the IRS website with a link to the provider website.
