Here in Maryland, west of Baltimore toward Frederick, trees and power lines are down over the roads restricting travel and causing power outages. Our power was out for over 13 hours starting after midnight Sunday, August 29, 2011. My children who live in Ellicott City still do not have power. Here is hoping you fared better in your home town if you live on the East Coast.
These trees and power lines down follow days after the 5.8 earthquake that struck south west of Alexandria, Virginia which is about 60 to 100 miles south of our Maryland location. I cannot remember an earthquake in the central eastern seaboard region from my childhood. I think if you check the record, earthquakes in this region are so rare as to be an unusual event.
