Tax professionals, and businesses in general, need to make informed decisions regarding technology and controls to prevent cybertheft and other crimes. This program will cover some of the prominent types of cybercrime and the impact on firms and their clients. The presenter will then discuss proactive steps that firms can take to prevent or mitigate cybercrimes, including a security audit, business insurance and policies for responding to a theft of data or other breach. Finally, the program will touch on ethical issues related to client data protection, federal privacy laws and the risks of social media.
