This eight-hour seminar will address the interaction and controversy facing accountants and tax professionals when dealing with the Internal Revenue Service. Four areas will be covered:
• IRS Audits – Various types of audits will be discussed, the players involved in the audits, and the various stages of the audit. It will guide you in the preparation of the audit and the resolutions.
• Penalties and How to Fight Them – The presenter will cover the most common tax penalties, how to protect a client from such penalties on the front end, and how to defend your client after penalties have been asserted.
• Offers in Compromise – The speaker will outline the basics of the offer in compromise, when such procedure is appropriate to resolve a tax dispute, what forms and documents are required, and outline how the IRS reviews, verifies and accepts the forms submitted.
• Representing your Client in Collection Matters – Various types of forms and letters are used by the IRS in Collections. We will cover the foundations of tax collections, the tools used by the IRS to collect outstanding tax liabilities, the options available to the taxpayer to resolve the collections case, and much more.
