Phyllis Kubey, EA, CFP, ATA, ATP, a member of the National Society of Accountants (NSA) who has more than 30 years of experience as a tax professional, has been appointed as a member of the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council (IRSAC).

IRSAC is an advisory body designed to focus on broad policy matters and reviews existing tax policy and/or recommends policies with respect to emerging tax administration issues.

IRSAC advises the IRS Commissioner with respect to issues having a substantive effect on federal tax administration, including operational improvements and current or proposed IRS policies, programs, and procedures. Ms. Kubey will serve as a member of the Small Business/Self-employed (SB/SE) and Wage & Investment (W&I) subgroup.

Kubey has earned the credentials of Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Accredited Tax Advisor (ATA), Accredited Tax Preparer (ATP), and Enrolled Agent (EA). As an EA, she is admitted to practice before the IRS and most state taxing authorities. She specializes in IRS and state tax-related representation – audits, collection, non-filing cases, etc. – and has particular expertise in areas relating to musicians, actors, artists, non-resident alien tax issues, U.S. citizens working abroad, and clergy.

“Phyllis has tremendous experience in all areas of taxation plus a unique set of skills related to certain types of clients, so her knowledge and expertise will be especially useful to IRSAC,” said NSA Executive Vice President John Ams.

“I am thrilled to be named to IRSAC and look forward to contributing in any way I can be of service,” Kubey said.
