Kathy Hettick, EA, ABA, ATP, who served as the 2015-16 President of the National Society of Accountants (NSA), has been appointed as a member of the Internal Revenue Service Advisory Council (IRSAC).

Hettick is principal of Hettick Accounting & Tax, LLC, in Enumclaw, Washington.
IRSAC is an advisory body designed to focus on broad policy matters and reviews existing tax policy and/or recommends policies with respect to emerging tax administration issues.

IRSAC advises the IRS Commissioner with respect to issues having a substantive effect on federal tax administration, including operational improvements and current or proposed IRS policies, programs, and procedures.  Hettick will serve on the IRSAC Office of Professional Responsibility Subgroup, which focuses specifically on IRS rules, regulations and administrative procedures affecting tax professionals.

“Kathy is an ideal choice to join this group because of her extensive experience as an NSA volunteer leader, her experience running her own tax return preparation and advisory business, and deep knowledge of federal tax issues,” said NSA Executive Vice President John Ams.

“I am truly honored to be named to IRSAC and look forward to providing the IRS with recommendations for the implementation of common sense policies that make tax administration work better for taxpayer, tax professionals, and the IRS,” Hettick said.
