Enrolled Agent Exam Preparation Webinar Series Begins This Month

  

The National Society of Accountants' (NSA) series of four webinars to help accounting and tax professionals prepare for and pass the Enrolled Agent (EA) exam begins this month.

One of the speakers for this NSA webinar series, John O. Everett, CPA, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Accounting at Virginia Commonwealth University, also teaches NSA’s intensive three-day live EA Exam Review Course (in Tampa this August) and is the author of NSA’s acclaimed EA Review Self-Study Course. Each of these webinars cover 10 of the most-tested topics in each part of the EA exam:

  • EA Part 1: Individuals on May 18, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. EDT
  • EA Part 2: Businesses on May 25 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. EDT and June 15 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. (two different webinars cover the content in Part 2)
  • EA Part 3: Representation, Practice and Procedures on June 22 from 2:00-4:00 p.m.

Sample questions for each topic are interspersed within each webinar and will be worked on and explained. Test-taking tips and tricks will also be emphasized. Registrants also receive a link to the "Top 150" questions per part – essential questions complete with explanations on topics needed to pass the EA exam.

Presentations will include coverage of new topics added to the updated Exam Content Specification List by the IRS in March, 2016.

The webinar series will be taught by two leading experts:

  • John O. Everett, CPA, Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus of Accounting at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. John's teaching specialty is federal taxation. He has authored or co-authored over 90 articles in academic and professional journals including the NSA EA Exam Review Course and 1040 101 Course, and is the coauthor of several textbooks, including CCH Practical Guide to Schedule M-3 Compliance, The HBJ Federal Tax Course, Income Tax Fundamentals, and Tax Planning With the Computer.
  • Cherie J. Hennig, Ph.D., began her career as an IRS Revenue Agent in Denver, CO. She has taught undergraduate and graduate tax courses at Florida International University, Colorado State University, the University of South Florida, and Virginia Tech. She has published articles in leading tax journals, co-authored two tax texts and written and taught numerous continuing professional education courses. She coauthors NSA’s 1040 101 course.

EA Part 1: Individuals

This webinar will review the ten topics that are often tested on Part 1 - Individuals of the Enrolled Agents Exam. Materials include several comprehensive diagrams covering such topics as the individual format, netting capital gains and losses, IRA contribution and deductions, and the federal gift tax and the federal income tax.

EA Part 2A: Businesses I The first of two webinars devoted to Part 2 - Businesses of the Enrolled Agents Exam. This webinar will review ten topics that are often tested on Enrolled Agents Exam Part 2, including business income and expense topics applicable to all businesses, sales or exchanges of business properties, and partnership taxation.

EA Part 2B: Businesses II This is the second of two webinars devoted to Part 2 - Businesses of the Enrolled Agents Exam. The purpose of Session 2 is to review another ten topics that are often tested on Part 2, including tax issues related to both C corporations and S corporations, estate and trust income taxation, and business retirement plans.

CE: 1 Hour/Federal Tax Law; 1 Hour/Federal Tax Law Update; 1 Hour SEE Exam Preparation

EA Part 3: Representation, Practice and Procedures This webinar will review ten topics that are often tested on Part 3 - Representation, Practice and Procedures of the Enrolled Agents Exam. Materials include several comprehensive diagrams covering such topics as the sources of primary tax authority, possible tax preparer penalty thresholds, and indirect income estimation methods.  

CE: 2 Hours/Ethics

 

The webinars are approved for continuing professional education (CPE) by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation (ACAT) and California Tax Education Council (CTEC).

The Part 1 and Part 3 webinars run two hours and will start at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The two Part 2 Business webinars run three hours and start at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Attendees can register for the complete series of webinars or any of the individual webinars. The cost for the series of four webinars is $255 for NSA members and $385 for nonmembers. The cost to register for a single webinar is $65 for NSA members and $95 for nonmembers. Anyone who registers can also save up to $25 off the NSA comprehensive Enrolled Agent Exam Review Self-Study Course.
