On December 19, 2012, at 2pm Eastern Time, The "IRS Live" program net broadcast a live video feed about the Registered Tax Return Preparer (RTRP) examination and program. Guests of Moderator Mike Quinn were Carol A. Campbell, Director of the Return Preparer Office (RPO) of the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Preston Benoit, Deputy Director of RPO. The program was loaded with information for the practitioners who intend to take the examination. However, the IRS website has much more information on the topic than was covered in the informative and somewhat entertaining video.

Hi fellow state directors, I have been thinking about our duties and responsibilities which are vast and can seem at times overwhelming, wondering what we can do to help each other. I realize the year is slowly coming to a close, our duties are becoming less burdensome but then tax season looms on the horizon and our minds will pretty much be on taxes.

It was my privilege in August of this year to attend the National Society of Accountants Annual Meeting in Maui, HI. It was my 35th convention since I joined NSA in 1963. I was given time to address the delegates and I wanted to express my gratitude to not only the delegates but the officers, governors, and state directors for their dedication to keeping our profession on the cutting edge. However, I most wanted to thank them and all concerned for protecting our right to practice.

I was reading the latest issue of Accounting Today Magazine (Accounting Today, vol. 26, no. 11, November 2012, page 7. "Meet Our Accountant of the Month" by Danielle Lee of Altamonte Springs, Fla. Congratulations to Laura Wood for winning the award for her career with Florida-based National Accounting and Management Services, which she co-founded with her husband.
